Toronto Art Book Fair

A week from today the Toronto Art Book Fair (TOABF) launches with an opening night preview party. The party runs form 6 to 9pm on Thursday June 16th, and will feature DJ Cameron Hodge and Healing Powers DJs.

The fair then continues through to Sunday the 19th. The free public event will feature 75 Canadian and international vendors (full list below), a speaker series, readings, talks, launches and workshops.

This Risograph book combines Nick Kline's photo-series Boy's Shirts with a text by Winnipeg writer/curator/artist Kegan McFadden. Part autobiography, part fiction, the text employs the technique of the singular pronoun, (the titular “he”) as a purposeful beclouding.

Today at 4:30 pm at Or Gallery, McFadden will read from the book, alongside artists Nick Lakowski,

Or Gallery Holiday Party & Edition Launch

Tonight the Or Gallery hosts a holiday party and edition launch, featuring cocktails and DJs Kathy Slade and Kevin Romaniuk.

In addition to the launch of their new Risograph Edition Portfolio with prints by Lorna Brown, Aaron Carpenter, and Marina Roy, there will be discounts on other Or Gallery publications, Fillip and New Document editions and more.

The party starts at 7:00 pm and continues until 10:30.

From July 11th to August 2nd, Or Gallery's bookstore is offering 10% off everything in the store, 30% off of Or Gallery publications (including works co-published by Bywater Brothers) and 60% off of magazine back issues.

They are throwing in a free tote bag with any three book purchases and a tote bag and mug with any five books purchased.
