Baldessari Afters

Five works that reference Baldessari’s signature work: Banksy, Thérèse Mastroiacovo, Jonathan Monk, Emily Reimer, Yann Sérandour. Interestingly, all but one of them call back to the premise of students writing lines: Banksy draws a parallel with Bart’s weekly punishment in the opening credits of The Simpsons; Jonathan Monk defies the dictum; and Emily Reimer (then a student of mine) defaced the undersides of the classroom tables.
