Raymond Pettibon | Thinking of You

Raymond Pettibon
Thinking of You (Special Edition)
Chicago, USA: Renaissance Society, 1999
31.5 × 23.6 cm
Edition of 53

Produced in conjunction with Pettibon’s first North American museum exhibition at the Renaissance Society in 1998, this title features 115 illustrations of Pettibon's pen and ink drawings of phallic silhouettes, accompanied by texts and text fragments.

The Special Edition features additional quick drawings and texts in pen, by Pettibon. The work is available from the publisher, here, for between $1500 and $17500, depending on the edition number.

"This special edition was made impromptu, and the gestural, almost automatic or stream-of-consciousness fragments of text and image reflect this spontaneous energy. While installing the exhibition, Pettibon produced 53 hand-annotated unique books, made to benefit the museum by drawing through the pages of the show’s accompanying monograph. The corresponding exhibition itself featured over 600 drawings, reflecting the artist’s intensely prolific nature and approach to image-making."

Rodney Graham | Champagne Glasses

Rodney Graham
Champagne Glasses
Chicago, USA: The Renaissance Society, 1997
Set of two
Edition of 100

"A Champagne Flute is the perfect vehicle for an artist obsessed with corrupting civilization according to its own rules. Vancouver-based conceptual artist Rodney Graham has been keenly corrupting great works of literature, art and music based on their internal logic. For The Renaissance Society, Graham has converted the Robinson Crusoe-esque character from his stunnuing Venice Bienale film installation into a delightful tipsy monogram poetically described as forever never level."

(Remarkably) still available (15 years later) for $150 plus shipping, from the publisher, here.
