A replica of a Issey Miyake designer bag was 3D scanned and reproduced with a 3D printer. The pattern/ structure of the original bag is similar to the polygon mesh, which is often used for 3D modelling. I met Julia on a recent residency in Norway and she is the weirdest and coolest.

I want the Air Jordan XI. While arguably the most popular Air Jordan style of all-time, I still remember seeing it circa 1995 at Footlocker with my older brother and thinking it was unlike anything I had ever seen - ugly and weird, yet streamlined; a completely foreign object. I had no prior reference point with which to assess it. Something totally new.

Its the shoe that motivated the Jordan brand to move Air Jordan Retro releases to Saturday so that students wouldn't cut class to wait in line.

Ella Dawn McGeough is an artist living in Toronto. Working across disciplines, her research expands upon processes of historicisation, myth-making and speculative feminism. With artists Colin Miner and Liza Eurich she founded moire.ca in 2012, which produces online contemporary arts publications among other project-based activities. She is also the co-founder of Garden Avenue, a summer-time exhibition space; Ray~Ray, a project that produces limited edition jewelry and jewelry-like work by contemporary artists; and Friends of Ogden Park.

Lorna Bauer Ray~Ray Edition Launch Tonight

RAY~RAY, the artists' jewelry project by Ella Dawn McGeough and Sarah Nasby, launches it's second edition (after Kelly Jazvac earlier this year) tonight at G Gallery.

Ibiza, by Montreal-based artist Lorna Bauer, is a series of sculptures as necklaces. Handcrafted through the process of flameworking, they were developed as a response to the writings of Walter Benjamin and William S. Burroughs (the former's letters to his lover, the latter's descriptions of "color walks"). In an earlier series of sculptures, also titled Ibiza, Bauer produced glass forms loosely derived from the Dream Machine invention, by Burroughs’ colleague Brion Gysin.

For her Ray~Ray jewelry edition, Lorna has produced micro-versions of the original with slight deviations. Here, coloured molten glass is manipulated to possibly resemble creatures seen through the water that surrounds the island of Ibiza. The former pieces sometimes 12 to 15 feet in height were suspended from floor to ceiling, objects held in tension with the space around it. Here, for Ray~Ray, the body replaces that space and the wearer becomes the vertical frame from which the jewelry is hung.

To accompany each edition, Ray~Ray commissions a new text. Here writer Ania Wroblewski to responds to Ibiza. Her text, La Plage, will be included with each edition.

Ibiza is available in a limited edition of 15, each unique.

The launch takes place at the former location of G Gallery (134 Ossington Street - entrance on Foxley Pl, rear of building, from 7 to 9pm tonight, Tuesday September 27th.

Hand-crafted in layered combinations of ash, walnut and white oak, each Support is a unique object and comes with a signed edition card by the artist as well as an essay by Jen Hutton.
