The best-selling, critically acclaimed and award-winning Alex Ross book
The Rest is Noise has now spawned a year long festival at London’s Southbank Centre. "I can only describe myself as blissfully bewildered that Southbank Centre have taken inspiration from my book and built this sprawling, teeming festival," Ross told the Guardian on Monday.
Scheduled to open in a year and feature 100 performances, the festival will also debut a new work by minimalist composer Steve Reich. Radio Rewrite will be based on two songs by Radiohead,
Everything in it’s Right Place (from
Kid A, 2000) and
Jigsaw Falling Into Place (
In Rainbows, 2007).
