Barbarber

Subtitled “a magazine of texts”, Barbarber was founded in 1958 by J. Bernlef , K. Schippers and G. Brands and ran until 1972, producing a total of 87 editions. Published in Amsterdam, the poetry magazine featured many found poems, from shopping lists to newspaper articles and pages from the phone book. This April 1968 issue (Barbarber 59) featured only samples of wallpaper, and cost the magazine it’s funding as a literary periodical.
