Artists' Pillows

Pillows and pillowcases by Miranda July, Lucas Grogan, Bless, Michael Dumontier & Neil Farber, Marina Abramovic, and Christian Marclay.

(I remember a Pipilotti Rist book from about twenty years ago that came with a pillow case, but I can't locate it now).

Bless | Hair Visor

Designers Desiree Heiss and Ines Kaag began collaborating as Bless, over twenty years ago. Based out of Paris and Berlin, they move effortlessly between the worlds of design, fashion, art and interior decoration. The pair are smart, funny and inventive.

We hosted an exhibition of their work years ago and the above hair visor is one of many great works they gifted us at the time. I assumed it was an editioned piece but I can't find it anywhere in their comprehensive monograph (available here for a whopping $500), or on their website, or elsewhere online. I'm wondering now if it's a prototype for an unrealized edition.

A couple of weeks ago our friend Maddie visited and posed for a snapshot wearing it, which I can't resist posting here, despite having no other information about the work.

Instagram

Initially I wasn't sure how frequently artists' books and multiples would make it onto my (reluctant) Instagram feed. It turns out it's pretty often, including the above works by Bless, Jon Sasaki, Audie Murray, John Cage, Fluxus, Barbara Kruger, David Shrigley, Roula Partheniou, Jonathan Monk, Lee Henderson, Michael Dumontier & Neil Farber, Zoe Leonard, Kerri Reid, Kenneth Goldsmith, etc.

Instagram

Hopefully daily posts will return in the new year, but in the interim, follow my instagram account, where about 80% of the content is art and about 80% of that content is artists' books and editions.

This week on Tumblr

Last week on Tumblr: Artists' periodicals. This week: works by the Berlin/Paris Fashion design duo Bless, whose projects often blur the line between inventive design, fashion and artwork.
