David Byrne's How Music Works is released today, in both actual and virtual formats. To promote the book, instead of book signings, Byrne is doing a series conversations, or mini-Ted talks as he describes them. On Saturday September 22nd in Montreal, he will be speaking with Win Butler from the Arcade Fire. Co-presentated by Librairie Drawn & Quarterly and POP Montreal’s Symposium, the event will be held at the Ukrainian Federation for $15 (with $5 off the book price).
Other conversations include Cory Doctorow from Boing Boing, David Lowery from Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker, Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) and Carrie Brownstein (Sleater-Kinney).
Here's Byrne performing the other night on Jimmy Fallon, with St Vincent, and wearing a jacket my friend George McCracken recently designed for him.
