In 1960 E.A. Entwisle, who has written a number of volumes on the history of wallpaper, published A Literary History of Wallpaper, a 211-page exhaustive bibliography of books on the subject, or indeed which mention wallpaper, from 1509 (the earliest known wallpaper) to 1960, the year of publication.
Earlier this year the Viennese artist Bernhard Schreine, best known for large audio installations, had the pages of the book turned into wallpaper. The edition consists of 20 silkscreen prints on Hahnemuehle Pro Arte Ingres paper, housed in a cardboard box with a silkscreened cover.
