Subtitled A Reading from Stories From the Nerve Bible, this is Anderson's second live album, and sixth album overall released on Warner Bros. Records. A compilation followed five years later, completing the seven-album deal she signed in the early eighties when O Superman became an unlikely hit in Britain.
The album consists of spoken word works with Anderson on vocals, keyboards and violin. She is accompanied by Joey Baron on drums, Cyro Baptista on gong and surdo and Greg Cohen on bass, guitar, and keyboards.
The LP contains two previously recorded pieces: the poem "White Lily", which was performed for her 1986 concert film Home of the Brave, and "Same Time Tomorrow", which appears on the Brian Eno produced record Bright Red, released only a few months prior.
It was just announced that Laurie Anderson will receive a Lifetime Achievement award at this year’s Grammys. She will receive the honour in Los Angeles on February 4th, alongside N.W.A., Gladys Knight, Tammy Wynette, the Clark Sisters, and Donna Summer.
