It would take a dedicated scholar to track down all of the various iterations of Man Ray's chess sets. This one seems to be the most valuable, possibly due to provenance - it was owned by David Bowie. It sold for ₤106,250 ($131,900) at Sotheby’s London in November of 2016, over five times the pre-sale estimate.
