Conceived by the trio in 1991 during the Basel Art Fair (as is indicated by the photocopy of the original drawing, made on Basilisk Hotel letterhead), the project was eventually realized as edition #31 for Texte zur Kunst magazine, seven years later. The work was intially signed on the machine-embroidered label, though these have faded over time and more recent examples have sold with the title card signed for General Idea, by surviving member AA Bronson.

Designed as a functional and ephemeral shopping bag, most of these were put to use and did not survive, allowing framed copies to sell for upwards of a thousand dollars at auction, despite the incredibly high edition size.
