Michael Dumontier | A Moon or a Button
This Friday Plug In ICA in Winnipeg opens A Moon or a Button, a new solo exhibition by Michael Dumontier. The show will consist of works made in the last five years, and will encompass painting, collage, sculpture and drawing. Dumontier was a founding member of the Royal Art Lodge in 1996, and continued with the collective (also featuring Neil Farber and Marcel Dzama) until it concluded in 2008. He is represented by MKG127 in Toronto, and several of his editions can be purchased at Paul + Wendy Projects, including a fantastic new series called Typings, made in collaboration with Farber (more about these when my three copies arrive back from the framer).
A Moon or a Button is curated by Micah Lexier, as is the accompanying exhibition Like Minded, which features Paul Butler, Martin Creed, Nelson Henricks, Euan Macdonald, Arnaud Maggs, Sara MacKillop, Ken Nicol, Michael Snow, Joy Walker, Laurel Woodcock and many others. Both exhibitions run from January 28th to March 25th.
